SAC Championship First Round Results
April 17, 2012CONOVER, N.C.-- After the first two rounds of competition at the 2012 Food Lion SAC Golf Championship, the Mars Hill women's golf team sits in tenth place.
Mars Hill shot a combined 238-over 806 in the first day of competition. Mars Hill was paced by Jacqueline McCormick, who is tied for 35th after finishing with a 35-over 177.
Newberry leads the overall team competition by 14 strokes over second-place LMU. The Wolves shot a 24-over 618 on the day. Newberry was paced by the Championship's top-two individual showings, as SAC Player of the Year Maria Luz Besio carded a five-over 147 and Lisa Brandl finished at nine-over with a 151.
Due to the threat of poor weather, Tuesday's schedule has been amended to allow for a staggered tee-off, with half the field starting at hole No. 1 and the other half at hole No. 2. The first tee-times are set for 8 a.m.
