Lions Fall to Brevard in SAC Tournament
April 19, 2012ROCK HILL, S.C.-- The Mars Hill women's tennis team was defeated 5-1 by Brevard in the first round of the 2012 Food Lion SAC Women's Tennis Tournament at Rock Hill Tennis Center. Brevard advances to face top-seeded Wingate in the semifinals, while Mars Hill is eliminated from the tournament.
The two teams split a pair of doubles matches. Brevard's Claire Dillman and Michelle Prata took home an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 doubles court, while Mars Hill's Tatiana Dualiby and Jacqueline Rouquet cruised to an 8-2 victory victory on the No. 2 court. Brevard picked up a victory by forfeit in the third court to take a 2-1 lead.
An additional victory by forfeit in the No. 6 singles court gave Brevard a 3-1 lead. Prata's singles victory in the No. 3 court and a victory by Jennifer Nyman in straight sets at No. 5 clinched the victory for the Tornados.
Mars Hill concludes its season with a 9-10 record.
