Haithcox Named All-American
May 16, 2012MARS HILL, N.C.—Mars Hill senior softball team member Natalie Haithcox has been named to the 2012 Daktronics All-America Softball Third Team.
This is the second time in Haithcox’s career she has earned Daktronics All-America honors. She was honored as the third basemen on the third team. The senior set school records in single-season home runs (18), slugging percentage (.966), on-base percentage (.532) and walks (32). Haithcox ended her career as Mars Hill’s all-time home run leader with 43.
Haithcox had previously been named Daktronics All-Southeast Region, First Team All-SAC and CoSIDA Academic All-District. Haithcox is the only South Atlantic Conference student-athlete to be named to the All-American Softball Team.
Kutztown pitcher Samantha Derr was named Pitcher of the Year, while Central Oklahoma third baseman Kacie Edwards was named Player of the Year.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
