Haithcox Honored by NCCSIA
June 15, 2012GREENSBORO, N.C.—Mars Hill softball team member Natalie Haithcox was named to the 2012 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Softball Team, which was released Thursday.
Haithcox turned in a huge senior season and set school-records for slugging percentage (.966), homers (18), on-base percentage (.532) and walks (32). The 2012 Daktronics Third Team All-American hit .415 with 46 RBI and led NCAA Division II in slugging percentage.
The ninth annual team consists of non-NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. Sports information professionals from across the state submitted the nominees, and NCCSIA members voted for the all-state team. The team consists of two starting pitchers, one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders, one designated player and one utility player.
Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from North Carolina’s NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions for the purpose of promoting college athletics in the state. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina whose responsibilities include sports information.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA, NCCAA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball. Over 1,000 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.
