Tucker Named All-American

MARS HILL, N.C.—Mars Hill’s Hudson Tucker has been named an NCAA Division II Men’s Swimming All-American, the swim team announced Wednesday.

Tucker is the first All-American in Mars Hill swim history. The junior earned the recognition after placing eighth in the 100 Back and ninth in the 100 Fly at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships in Birmingham, Ala. The senior has now made three appearances in the National Championships. He had previously been named an Honorable Mention All-American the past two years.

Tucker’s performance in the National Championships earned enough points to place the Mars Hill men’s swimmers 24th in the nation. He set school-records in both the 100 Back and 100 Fly at the event. Tucker holds or is a part of nine school-record performances.

The swim season concluded with Tucker’s performance in the National Championships. The Lions placed third in the Appalachian Swim Conference and were 8-2 in dual meets. Head Coach Teddy Guyer was named ASC Coach of the Year.
