Lions Fall to Milligan in Border Battle
March 20, 2013WEAVERVILLE, N.C.-- The Milligan College women's golf team won the Border Battle Match Play event at Reems Creek Golf Club, defeating Mars Hill 4-2 in the weather-shortened event.
Play was suspended after the teams had completed the alternate shot and four-ball matches. The six singles matches were not contested due to time constraints. Milligan was paced by the team of Brittany Branker and Madison Smith in the alternate shot portion while Kaitlyn Harville and Kayla Kmetz picked up a victory in the four-ball matches. Freshmen Megan Reecer and Lindsey Ball each picked up points for the Lions.
Both teams are scheduled to participate in the Mars Hill Invitational, scheduled for Thursday at Reems Creek.
