MARS HILL, N.C. - Mars Hill used a balance offensive attack from Evie Tafunai and Laura Ann Huskey (eight kills apiece) to defeat Brevard in three sets on Friday night inside Stanford Arena. The Lions (3-1, 1-1 SAC) won by scores of 25-9, 25-11, and 25-15 over the Tornados (3-3, 0-1 SAC).
Ashlie Morrison posted a team-high seven kills for Brevard. Lindsey Rogers had 15 digs. Bethany Stevenson registered nine assists.
Each team scored three service aces, but the Tornados also had five service errors. Mars Hill started the first two sets strong, jumping out to a 19-5 lead in the first game and 18-6 advantage in the second. The Lions led 11-3 in the third set before Brevard put together a 10-4 spurt to cut the deficit to two points. However, Mars Hill's defense picked up and allowed only two additional points the rest of the way.
The Lions host Winston-Salem St. on Saturday. The match begins at 1 p.m.
