Men's Soccer Wins at King

Lions score four goals in second half

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The no. 17 Lions men’s soccer squad won their second straight game of the 2012 campaign defeating King College, 5-1 Saturday evening at Parks Field. King dropped to 0-2 with the loss.

Luis Alonzo gave King a 1-0 lead just seven minutes into the contest off a pass from Ashkan Balooch. Fourteen minutes later Stephen Bivens tied the match on a cross from Felipe Ferraro. The teams carried that score into the locker room at halftime.

The second half was all Mars Hill as they ran away with the contest scoring four unanswered goals. Ferraro notched the match winner at the 61:27 mark on an assist from Alex Mullen. Shadi Harb scored an unassisted goal in the 68th minute before he connected with Corey Roberts for the Lions fourth goal (68:33) of the contest. Craig Carwood added the last Lion goal at the 68:49 mark off a rebound that was sent in by Regis Mawire to make the final tally 5-1 in favor of the visitors.

MHC outshot King, 33-6. They had eight corner kicks as opposed to King’s one and Zac Scott made one save in the net for the Lions playing the entire match in goal for MHC. Cameron Sauro played the first 57:19 in goal for KC and made six saves. Sauro only allowed one Lion goal before leaving the field due to an injury. Tyler Reed finished the match in goal for King and made two saves.

The Lions will host Limestone College on Sept. 5. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
