Stanek Earns Academic All-District Recognition

MARS HILL, N.C.-- Mars Hill's Robyn Stanek has been recognized for her performance on the softball diamond and in the classroom as a member of the Capital One Academic All-District III Softball Team.

A third baseman, Stanek was a First Team All-South Atlantic Conference selection after leading the Lions in batting average, home runs, RBI's and slugging percentage. The biology major carries a 3.92 GPA. As a member of the Academic All-District III First Team, Stanek will be eligible for Academic All-America honors. The 2013 Capital One All-District Softball Teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Stanek ranked fourth in the SAC with a .372 batting average this season. The sophomore added five home runs, 41 RBI's and slugged .577. She totaled 17 multi-hit games and had a 13-game hitting streak. A two-homer performance by Stanek sparked the Lions to a sweep of 25th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. First-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
