Two Lions Earn All-Region Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, LA.—Two members of the Mars Hill women’s track and field team have been named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region Team.

Alexis Montgomery and Jessica Viscusi each earned All-Region recognition. Montgomery was honored for her performance in two events. The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region’s top three earned All-Region distinction. A total of 1,283 student-athletes nationwide earned All-Region distinction in NCAA Division II. On the women’s side, 613 student-athletes were named All-Region.

Montgomery received All-Region honors for her performances in the 200 Meter Dash and 400 Meter Dash. Montgomery ran a time of 25.12 seconds in the 200 Meter Dash to finish first at the Southeast Regional Championship. At the time the mark was a new school-record, which she has since broken. Montgomery placed second in the 400 Meter Dash.

Viscusi was honored for her performance in the Pole Vault. She placed second in the region with a vault of 7’-4.50”.

Mars Hill concluded its season with  a fourth-place finish at the Southeast Regional Championships.
