REID SIGNS NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

MARS HILL, N.C. - John Christian Reid has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis with Mars Hill College, head coach Jarod Camerota announced today. Reid, ranked No. 65 in the North Carolina Under 18 United States Tennis Association (USTA) rankings, will begin playing for the Lions in the 2011-12 academic year.

"I feel like Mars Hill is the best college for me not only on the court, but in the classroom as well," Reid said. "Mars Hill gives me the opportunity to be a college tennis player and pursue a degree in a career field of my choosing."

A tennis and soccer standout, Reid attends Newton-Conover High School in Claremont, N.C. His high school team won the Class AA state championship in tennis in 2010 and 2007 Class AA title in soccer. Reid was named All-Conference in tennis in 2010 and All-Region in Soccer in 2009 and 2010.  He is coached in tennis by Brian Tate and Doug Eller.

Mars Hill College is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the South Atlantic Conference. The league is comprised of schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
